Tonya Harding Tells Harrowing Story in New Book

They also fill a new book, "The Tonya Tapes," in which she speaks frankly, if a bit confusingly, about the Tonya and Nancy scandal. And about being abused during childhood, contemplating suicide, having a gun placed to her head and getting raped. She says she paid a price for not fitting the mold of American figure skaters.

Saturday 17, May/08 - Tickets for Hamlet (August)

Some friends and I are going to travel to London this Summer and we wanted to go and see David Tennant performing in Hamlet.
Sadly, as we live in Germany, we have no way of getting a hold on some tickets. My friend is seriously going to die if she doesn't get to see David. Can anybody help us poor isolated fans? On that note, are there any kind of doctor who related things we just have to see/do that you would recommend? We're already going to Cardiff! *squee*

Thank you so much
Luce

NARNIA SHOCKER: 'Prince Caspian' underwhelms w/$18M Fri & disappointing $51.3M opening!; 'Iron Man' w/$9.25M Fri & targets $33M, making $300M possible!; 'Happens in Vegas’ solid w/$4.65M 2nd Fri; 'Reprise' likely PTA winner!
by Steve Mason|

FRIDAY 10PM: Walden Media’s The Narnia Chronicles: Prince Caspian (Disney) has failed to match the $23M opening day of 2005’s The Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe, managing only $18M on Friday. The second of what could be 7 films based on the C.S. Lewis Christian-themed Narnia novels will likely finish the weekend with an estimated $51.3M. If the number holds, that will be 22% less than the first Narnia installment.

Theatre owners and most of the so-called box office “experts” were looking for an $80M+ opening weekend, and I called for $74M-$77M, so Prince Caspian is a distinct disappointment. Industry tracking pointed toward a stronger opening, and execs from competing studios have theories about why the new Narnia has opened soft. Despite generally positive reviews (69% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes), many critics mentioned that the movie is darker than the first with some extended battle sequences, which could be a contributing factor. Also, one source tells me that the faith-based marketing effort was less effective this time around.

First Sneak Peek: Lindsay on 'Ugly Betty'

Saturday 17, May/08 - Anyone else super excited for the Agatha Christie...
I am.  Just to say--I am ready for a good old fashioned, scary, silly, costume drama who-dunnit.  I think it will bring out the 40's screwball comedy thing that Tennant and Tate have going on, and exploit the goofy that DT revels in.

I am also excited for the Steven Moffat 2-parter--in a library (and a forest), in the 51st century--

Then we get the "Doctorless" episode, and the three part build to the finale....

But it is these next three that I am most excited for...

That's all.  Happy Saturday!
Saturday 17, May/08 - Sibling rivalry: Hollywood's oldest feud

Screen legends Olivia de Havilland and Joan Fontaine have always had one problem: each other. Now in their nineties, the antagonism goes on. Rupert Cornwell reports

Thursday, 15 May 2008

Whatever happened to Olivia and Joan? Olivia de Havilland and Joan Fontaine that is, among the brightest jewels of 1940s Hollywood, Oscar-winners both but also sisters locked into an ancient sibling rivalry that, according to accounts from the tinsel city, is alive and well even though both are now in their 90s, grandes dames from a vanished era.

Eight decades or more, you would have thought, is time enough to let bygones be bygones. But in this sad, remarkable but all too human instance, the answer appears to be, no. A couple of weeks ago, the Academy of Motion Pictures which organises the Oscars held a bash honouring the late actress Bette Davis on the 100th anniversary of her birth. In so doing, they unwittingly laid bare this celebrity feud for the ages.
